When Agent Smith addresses ‘Mr. Anderson’ in the Matrix, everyone is dressed in black – leather, suits, sunglasses; male, female, virus. In the real world, J.W Anderson designs with similar disregard for gender roles, but with a much more emotive use of colour. If the Matrix is an allegory for being trapped in a simulation, Jonathan Anderson’s eponymous brand is the opposite – the warm sunshine of reality. This is all a long winded way of saying you need to shop the Northern Irish designer’s latest collection, inspired by all things nautical and military.
