Nike have sought through their archives over recent years to bring new, up-to-date versions of classic styles that were so prolific through the 80’s, 90’s and most recently the early 2000’s. A call to their back catalogue came earlier in 2020 in revival of the 2003 Air Zoom Spiridon Cage.
Since then, the rebirth of the Spiridon Cage has attracted several new colourways and a greatly anticipated collaboration with Californian brand, Stüssy. Putting it on the map to stand alongside its contemporary counterparts.
The Spiridon Cage first became available in 2003, 2005 and 2020 with design tweaks that updated the silhouette for the current market. Adding to this roster of releases, Nike have introduced two new colourways into the frame entitled Pistachio Frost and Saffron. Both fit for the summer months, the fabrication of both sneakers features suede, leather and mesh panelling on the upper. To coincide with such materiality, Nike have placed a signature silver swoosh to the side of each sneaker along with branding to the heel and tongue tab. The sneakers are finished with the innovative caged air unit to the midsole which is decorated in an illuminous coat of yellow.
The ‘Pistachio Frost’ and ‘Saffron’ Spiridon Cage 2 are available online from 16 JULY 20.
