Traditionalist, menswear aficionado and founder of Visvim, Hiroki Nakamura started the brand in 2001 after becoming embroiled into an obsession with vintage Americana, the Japanese Edo period, French workwear and Amish patchwork fabrications. Since then, Visvim and Nakamura have dipped their toes into each technique, framework and time-period to provide a collection encompassed by the past, but for the future.
Nakamura’s love for specific production, manufacturing and design has developed his own definition of fashion through the medium of Visvim. Centuries of collecting, research and developing have led Visvim to this point and an offering of Nakamura’s ‘Future Vintage’. Where long-lasting traditions are used to create a timeless collection of clothing and footwear, Nakamura taps into the use of futuristic materials to guide him through innovation. GORE-TEX and waterproofing materials of tomorrow blend effortlessly with Visvim’s select vision of utility, military and workwear uniforms.
The latest collection of Visvim is a continuation of Nakamura’s authentic efforts for long-lasting effect. The Lhamo Shirt takes hints from the Japanese Kimono and traditional shirting in a presented a new idea washed in denim dyes. To accompany Visvim’s fast-moving trajectory of workwear is a nod to modern interpretations of classic footwear styles including rejuvenated runners and a conventional Brigadier Boot.
The latest collection of Visvim is available in-store and online now.
