The first pair of Dr. Martens boots rolled off the production line on the 1st April 1960. With its trademark yellow stitch, grooved sole and heel-loop, it was a boot for workers, initially worn by postmen and policemen; comfortable, durable and lightweight in comparison to its competitors at the time.

Dr. Martens have joined forces with Beams and Babylon for the 1460 Remastered collaboration. Marking 60 years of rebellion and pushing boundaries, celebrating they’re shared ethos for music and alternative subcultures.
For the third collaboration, two world-renowned creative platforms have remastered the brands most iconic silhouette. Babylon – Founded in 2015, Garrett Stevenson and Lee Spielman’s LA-based brand Babylon is a throwback to classic, fearless branding, putting their own signature spin on nostalgic imagery from the past.

The pioneers of modern minimalism. Beams’ goal is to become a culture shop that creates culture through the product it sells. They provide value that transcends material satisfaction by sharing the context behind a product, such as details on the time and background of its origin. Previously, collaborations with Japanese lifestyle brand Beams have been clean and minimalistic but by throwing the hardcore-skate stylings of LA label Babylon into the mix, they are exploring a shared punk heritage.

Taking a West Coast alternative skate aesthetic and clashing it through a futuristic Japanese lens, the 1460 boot was inspired by the rude boys of the 60s. The double stripe down the heel nods to the subculture’s iconic uniform braces. Updated in Beams’ unmistakable orange - a colour synonymous with the brand’s clean, minimalist, modern collections.
They’re marked by a triple-branded circle lace charm and embossed with ‘Chaos’ on the quarters - a Babylon slogan and nod to the clash of attitudes and eras that make up the boot. The same logo is partially hidden underneath the air-cushioned outsole. The 1460s are finished with a triple-branded sock liner to reinforce the three brands’ shared DNA, and arrive in bespoke packaging that commemorates Dr. Martens 60th anniversary.
